Black Myth: Wukong, developed by Game Science, is hailed as China’s first AAA title. Even before its official release, it had already garnered widespread attention.
On August 20, 2024, the game was officially launched on PS5, STEAM, EPIC GAMES STORE, and WEGAME, achieving remarkable success on its first day:
- Over 3 million copies were sold on Steam alone, and with sales from WeGame, Epic, and PS platforms combined, total sales have exceeded 4.5 million copies, generating more than 1.5 billion yuan in revenue.
- Concurrent player numbers on Steam surpassed 2.35 million, making it the most popular game on Steam globally.
- A total of 52 global institutions have reviewed the PC version of Black Myth: Wukong, with an average score of 82. IGN China rated it 10/10, and it holds a 96% positive rating on Steam.
Black Myth: Wukong was developed using Unreal Engine 5, featuring stunning visuals and complex combat scenes that demand high-performance gaming equipment, which might deter some players.
Black Myth: Wukong System Requirements
For the PC version, here are the minimum system requirements as listed on Steam:
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
- Processor: Intel Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 5 1600
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB / AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
- DirectX: Version 11
- Storage: 130 GB available space

The minimum requirements, of course, won’t allow you to enjoy the game in high definition or with smooth gameplay. The recommended configuration is as follows:
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
- Processor: Intel Core i7-9700 / AMD Ryzen 5 5500
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 / AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT / INTEL Arc A750

- Storage: 130 GB available space
- Sound Card: Windows-compatible audio device
- Additional Notes: SSD required
Clearly, not everyone has a system that meets these recommended specs. So, does this mean upgrading your hardware is the only way to experience Black Myth: Wukong?
Not necessarily. There are other options.
Black Myth: Wukong + GeForce NOW
GeForce NOW, Nvidia’s cloud gaming platform, supports over 2,000 games and can be played on Windows, Mac, Android, Chromebook, and via browser. Although iOS and iPadOS users are restricted by App Store limitations, they can still stream GeForce NOW through Safari.
GeForce NOW System Requirements
Cloud gaming runs on remote servers, leveraging the hardware power of data centers, so players only need a stable and smooth internet connection without worrying too much about their local device’s performance.
For example, the minimum system requirements for Windows are:
- OS: 64-bit version of Windows 7 or later (32-bit versions are not supported)
- CPU: Dual-core x86 or x64 CPU at 2.0GHz or faster
- Memory: 4GB of system memory
- GPU: GPU that supports DirectX 11 or later
The requirements for Mac are similarly low:
- OS: macOS version 10.11 or higher
- Mac: Any Mac system introduced in 2009 or later
Since players need to send their keyboard and mouse inputs to GeForce NOW in real time, and receive video and audio streams in return, a stable and fast internet connection is crucial for a good gaming experience. The network requirements for different resolutions are as follows:
- 15 Mbps – For HD resolutions at up to 60 FPS (e.g., 1280×720)
- 25 Mbps – For FHD resolutions at 60 FPS (e.g., 1920×1080)
- 35 Mbps – For UW QHD & QHD resolutions at 120 FPS (e.g., 3840×1440 or 2560×1440)
- 45 Mbps – For 4K resolutions at 120 FPS (e.g., 3840×2160)
