Jun 28, 2025, Jason_Leznek announced Windows 11, version 25H2 on Windows IT Pro Blog. This is a bad news, especially to us.

Why? Because we have the name, theWindows12.

The release of Windows 11 25H2 means Windows 12 will be delayed for at least another year. Last year we’ve predicted that Windows 12 Does Not Come Soon, and version 25H2 indicates our correct judgment, but we does hope Windows 12 come earlier.

We welcome Windows 12, and are ready to post everything about it. But at present we have to focus on Windows 11.

Updating from Windows 11 24H2 to 25H2 is as easy as restarting. Windows 11, version 24H2 and version 25H2 use a shared servicing branch. That is to say, the two versions has the same core. 25H2 is just a part of 24H2 branch. New feature code is slowly added to 24H2 but flagged as Disabled. When the OS receives eKB(Enablement Package), the flag of new feature code will turn to Enabled. After restarting, Windows 11 24H2 is seamlessly updated to 25H2.

What about those devices running Windows 11 with the version older than 24H2? Unfortunately they have to use the lagacy update mechanism, until they are in 24H2 or later.

Windows 11 25H2 has a lifecycle of 12 to 36 monthes, 12 for Home and Pro editions, and 36 for Enterprice and Education editions. That’s why we say Windows 12 will be delayed at least 1 year.
